Eric Vaulx Jr., a three‑star defensive lineman from Lake Cormorant, Mississippi, announced his commitment to Florida State University as part of the 2027 recruiting class, choosing the Seminoles over scholarship offers from Tennessee and Missouri.
A standout recruit chooses FSU
Ranked No. 439 overall and No. 51 among defensive linemen in the 247Sports composite, Vaulx is the 14th‑best player from Mississippi and the second defensive lineman to join FSU's 2027 class, following four‑star edge rusher Anthony Cavallaro.
During his junior season at Lake Cormorant High School, Vaulx logged 75 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, six sacks, 24 quarterback hurries and three forced fumbles, also blocking three kicks, numbers that helped him secure over 15 scholarship offers nationwide.
The recruitment timeline saw FSU extend a scholarship on March 4, and Vaulx made his first official visit to Tallahassee on April 7 before finalizing his decision during a second official visit on May 29.
Why the commitment matters
Vaulx's pledge not only adds depth to the defensive front but also signals FSU's continued ability to attract top talent from the Southeast, a trend that could influence future recruiting battles with rival programs.
Coach staff anticipate that integrating Vaulx will enhance rotational depth and provide a versatile interior presence, positioning the Seminoles favorably as they aim to climb the ACC standings.
