Iowa State Secures Two 2027 Recruits in Weekend Commitments

Drew Aagesen and Jordan Crider pledge to the Cyclones, strengthening the upcoming class

Iowa State football announced two verbal commitments on the weekend, signaling the start of a promising 2027 recruiting class. Offensive lineman Drew Aagesen from Goodrich, Michigan, and safety Jordan Crider from Middletown, Ohio, both chose the Cyclones over a host of other programs.

Aagesen, a two‑way standout at his high school, brings a rare blend of size and agility. In his junior season he recorded 11 sacks, 21 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and three blocked kicks, while also earning recognition as the No. 21 prospect in Michigan according to the 247 Sports Composite.

A Versatile Addition

Crider, ranked No. 114 among national safeties for the class of 2027, contributed 18 tackles and four interceptions in limited action at Middletown High School. He also proved his playmaking ability as a wide receiver, hauling in 12 catches for 185 yards and three touchdowns.

Both recruits considered a lengthy list of suitors before deciding on Ames. Aagesen had offers from Boston College, Michigan State, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Wisconsin, Kent State, Miami (Ohio), Toledo and Western Michigan, while Crider’s options included Kentucky, Temple, Bowling Green, James Madison, Miami (Ohio) and Toledo.

The commitments reflect the Cyclones’ growing appeal on the Mid‑West recruiting trail. Coach Jimmy Rogers highlighted the strategic value of adding a versatile lineman and a ball‑hawk safety, noting that the duo will help shape the team’s defensive and offensive schemes for the next few years.

Fans and analysts alike see the additions as a boost to Iowa State’s efforts to close the gap with traditional powerhouses. The early verbal pledges also set a positive tone for future visits and potential further additions before the next signing period.
