Triad's 9‑0 Victory Secures Regional Crown
Triad High School’s baseball squad delivered a decisive 9‑0 triumph over Jersey in the Class 3A regional championship, a result that cemented the Eagles’ place in the state tournament.
Senior right‑hander Nolan Keller was the picture of composure, striking out 13 batters while allowing only five hits over seven innings. His performance set the tone for a game that never felt close.
Jersey’s opening pitcher, Hayden LaPlant, encountered early trouble, surrendering four runs in the first inning. The early deficit proved insurmountable as Triad’s offense steadily pulled away.
With the win, Triad will host the Triad Sectional, where they are scheduled to meet Waterloo in a rematch of the region’s top two teams. The Eagles enter the next round riding a wave of momentum built on consistent postseason appearances.
Coaches Reflect on the Contest
Triad head coach Jesse Bugger praised his squad’s preparation, stating that the guys showed up ready to work and executed every pitch with confidence. His admiration extended to the team’s collective effort throughout the season.
Jersey coach Darren Perdun, while acknowledging the loss, conceded that Triad was just a better team tonight. He reflected on his team’s 22‑14 season and expressed pride in the players’ perseverance.
The Eagles’ lineup also included Braxton Yates, Keagan Seipp, Carter Gaskill, Nathan Klucker, Auggie Bugger, Jude Jones, Kade Rocca, Maddux Hunt, John Kodros, Shane Lamer, Isaac Hackethal, Evan Cheek, and Abe Kribs, providing depth that proved vital throughout the tournament.
The combined margin of victory in the three meetings this season stands at 20‑0, underscoring Triad’s dominance over Jersey. The Eagles have now won a regional title in back‑to‑back seasons and have reached the sectional round five times in the past six years.
