Kaiser opened the game with a 6‑0 deficit after Culver City manufactured its first run with a small‑ball strategy in the second inning, and starter Benjamin Nevarez limited Kaiser to a single hit through four innings.
The tide turned when Joey Chavez sparked a rally, going 3‑for‑4 at the plate, while Isaiah Cuellar and Alberto Arteaga contributed multiple hits that helped Kaiser chip away at the lead.
In the sixth inning Kaiser added three runs to narrow the gap to 9‑5, but Culver City responded in the seventh when Teven Davis surrendered an infield single to Arteaga, loading the bases.
Despite the late surge, the final score read 9‑8 in favor of Culver City, marking Kaiser’s second championship loss in nine seasons. Coach Mike Spinuzzi and the Kaiser roster, which included Isaiah Cuellar, Alberto Arteaga, Zeke Cortez, Nolan Riesenberg, Aaron Carrillo‑Munoz, Jordan Espino, Marcus Cortez, Alex Alvarado, Devaughn Wallace, and others, now look ahead to the CIF State Southern California regional tournament, where they will join Culver City, Vincent Ferrier, Nicholas Ramos and the rest of the advancing teams.
