A New Chapter for the Crimson Tide
Alabama women's basketball coach Pauline Love revealed this week that she has secured the commitment of Mykelle Richards, a forward who brings a blend of energy, toughness and versatility to the program.
Richards, a native of San Bernardino, California, joins the Crimson Tide after a standout freshman season at Long Beach State, where she averaged 7.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per game and earned a spot on the Big West All‑Freshman Team.
Her high school pedigree is equally impressive. At Etiwanda High School she captured three championship titles and was named the 2021 Female Athlete of the Year, sharing the court with USC standout Kennedy Smith during that period.
What the Addition Means
Coach Love emphasized that Richards will add depth to a roster that is looking to rebuild after a challenging season. Her ability to play multiple positions should give the staff flexibility in both offensive sets and defensive schemes.
The coaching staff believes that her work ethic and competitive fire align perfectly with the program’s culture, and they are eager to see how she adapts to the rigors of SEC play.
Fans can look forward to seeing a player who brings a relentless hustle and a knack for making smart, versatile contributions on both ends of the floor.
