Clemson Secures Top Recruits in 2027 Class Amid Major Weekend

Four-star edge rusher Santana Harvey and three-star receiver Julian Cromartie commit as Tigers eye national ranking

Clemson University’s football program made a splash during a high‑profile recruiting weekend, sealing two new pledges for the 2027 class.

Four‑star defensive end Santana Harvey and three‑star wide receiver Julian Cromartie announced their commitments on May 29, adding depth and talent to a squad that already boasts 15 verbal commits.

Harvey, ranked No. 284 nationally and the 35th edge rusher in the 247Sports Composite, chose the Tigers over a handful of suitors, while Cromartie followed in the footsteps of his father, former NFL defensive back Antonio Cromartie, who earned four Pro Bowl selections over an 11‑year career.

Julian Cromartie’s junior season at College Park High School in The Woodlands, Texas, saw him amass 824 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns on 42 catches, a performance that helped cement his three‑star rating.

A Recruiting Surge

Coach Dabo Swinney’s staff leveraged the weekend to host a parade of top prospects, including safeties Ta’Shawn Poole and Jayden Aparicio‑Bailey, defensive end Cahron Wheeler, and defensive tackle Seth Tillman, any of whom could further bolster the class.

The Tigers’ 2027 class now sits at No. 13 in the national rankings, comprising nine four‑star athletes and six three‑star players, a mix that reflects both depth and upside.

Among the early pledges, wide receiver Jamarrin Simmons, linebacker Bryce Kish, running back Gary Walker and quarterback Kharim Hughley are already being touted as cornerstone pieces for the future.

Beyond the individual signees, the commitments underscore Clemson’s continued ability to attract elite talent to the ACC, a trend that bodes well for the program’s competitiveness on the field and its brand presence off it, as highlighted by the university’s partnership with the NFL.
