Kobe Davis Takes the Helm of Middle Tennessee Christian Girls Basketball

The new coach aims to blend faith, character, and purpose while succeeding Shala Ferrell’s successful tenure.

Middle Tennessee Christian School announced this week that Kobe Davis will serve as the new head coach of the Lady Cougars' girls basketball team, bringing a blend of playing experience and multi‑sport coaching expertise to the program.

Davis arrives after three years as an assistant at Nashville Christian School, where he also oversaw middle‑school golf, baseball, volleyball and girls basketball. In that span he helped the program post a 19‑13 record and reach the DII‑A state round of 12 during the 2025‑26 season.

A Vision Rooted in Faith

Speaking about his appointment, Davis said the role offers an opportunity to build a program centered on faith, character and purpose. He emphasized that those values will shape daily practice, team culture and the broader student‑athlete experience.

The new coach also highlighted his own journey, having grown up in Bloomington, Indiana, and played college basketball at Harding University before moving into coaching. That background, he noted, gives him a personal connection to the rigors of both academic and athletic life.

A New Era for MTCS

Davis will replace Shala Ferrell, who guided the Lady Cougars to a 26‑6 record and a region runner‑up finish before resigning. Ferrell’s tenure set a high bar, and Davis inherits a team that has seen three different head coaches in as many years, a transition he views as a chance to bring stability and continuity.

Beyond the court, Davis will work closely with school leaders, parents and the wider community to reinforce the school’s mission. He believes that when athletics align with the school’s broader educational goals, student‑athletes emerge more prepared for life beyond high school.
