The University of Miami announced Wednesday that four-star defensive lineman Demarco Jenkins has committed to the Hurricanes for the Class of 2027, reinforcing a defensive unit that has become a hallmark of the program.
A Strategic Addition to the Defensive Line
Ranked No. 41 among defensive linemen nationwide, Jenkins chose Miami over scholarship offers from LSU, SMU and Texas, citing the school’s aggressive four-man front as a decisive factor.
Coach Mario Cristobal praised Jenkins’s fit within Miami’s defensive philosophy, noting that the young lineman’s size and pass-rush ability align perfectly with the team’s scheme.
Jenkins’s pledge brings the Hurricanes’ 2027 recruiting class to 16 commitments, underscoring Miami’s status as a national power after reaching the 2025 College Football Playoff championship game.
Looking Ahead to the 2026 Season
The program, led by head coach Mario Cristobal, is set to open the 2026 season on September 4 against Stanford, a matchup that will test the newly fortified defensive line.
