A New Era of Shooting
Kentucky head coach Kenny Brooks is confident that his Wildcats can rank among the nation’s elite shooting teams, a claim backed by last season’s 8.3 three‑pointers per game, which placed the program 31st in Division I.
The offense is anchored by returning sharpshooters such as Asia Boone, who nailed 96 treys a year ago, and senior center Clara Strack, who contributed 25 triples, while Amelia Hassett led the team with 99 three‑pointers.
Depth and Transfers Fuel the Attack
Brooks highlighted the team’s balanced roster, noting that every player is capable of stretching the floor. The Wildcats have bolstered their lineup with experienced transfers like Diana Collins from Alabama and Ayanna Patterson from Connecticut, as well as freshmen phenoms Maddyn Greenway, Emily McDonald and Savvy Swords, all McDonald’s All‑Americans.
Additions such as Florida transfer Me'Arah O'Neal, a 6‑foot‑4 forward who can pull defenders out of the paint, and Slovenian guard Ajša Sivka, the 10th overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, further diversify the shooting threat. Guard Maddyn Greenway, who set a Minnesota state scoring record with 5,621 points, is expected to assume a point‑guard role and immediately impact the scoreboard.
The coaching staff believes the blend of proven scorers, high‑level transfers and top freshmen will allow Kentucky to play at a fast pace and score in bursts, positioning the Wildcats as a formidable offensive force in the upcoming season.
