A historic ballot
The National Football Foundation (NFF) has opened the 2027 College Football Hall of Fame ballot, a list that captures the breadth of the sport’s recent excellence. The slate includes 80 standout players from the Football Bowl Subdivision and nine distinguished coaches, alongside 99 athletes from the Division I‑AA, Division II and Division III tiers and 39 coaches who have shaped the game at those levels. Among the personalities tied to this year’s ballot are Steve Hatchell, Archie Griffin, Archie Manning, Jeff Bregel, Barrett Jones, Colt McCoy, DeMeco Ryans, Manti Te'o, Jonathan Vilma, Keith Elias, Gerald Quinlivan, Thomas Stenglein, Alex Mack, Peyton Manning, Matt Stinchcomb, Tim Tebow and Danny Wuerffel.
The voting machinery
Voters — comprising more than 12,000 NFF members and living Hall of Famers — received the ballot in recent weeks, ensuring that the final selection reflects the perspective of those who have long followed the sport’s evolution.
A legacy of excellence
Since the Hall’s inception, 1,129 players and 241 coaches have earned induction, a testament to the NFF’s commitment to preserving college football’s rich narrative. The 2027 class will be celebrated at the 69th NFF Annual Awards Dinner in early 2027, where the new members will be formally honored.
Scholar‑athlete spotlight
Nine National Scholar‑Athlete candidates appear on the ballot, among them Jeff Bregel, Barrett Jones, Colt McCoy, DeMeco Ryans, Manti Te'o, Jonathan Vilma, Keith Elias, Gerald Quinlivan, Thomas Stenglein, Alex Mack, Peyton Manning, Matt Stinchcomb, Tim Tebow and Danny Wuerffel. Only 49 individuals in history have combined Hall of Fame induction with the scholar‑athlete distinction, underscoring the rarity of the accomplishment. The NFF has recognized 954 National Scholar‑Athletes since 1959, highlighting the organization’s dual focus on athletic prowess and academic integrity.
Integrity and tradition
The selection process is renowned for its transparency and its emphasis on character, community service and scholarly achievement. By involving a broad base of members and Hall of Famers, the NFF ensures that each vote contributes to a collective narrative that honors the sport’s past while shaping its future.
