Texas A&M University announced the addition of Adelaide Paredes to its women's soccer goalkeeping corps, a move that underscores the program’s intent to deepen talent pools ahead of the upcoming season.
A Strategic Reinforcement
Paredes arrives after a standout tenure at Mount St. Mary's University and St. Bonaventure University, where she earned All‑Super Essex Conference First Team honors in 2020 and 2021. Her collegiate experience, coupled with appearances for Portugal at the U16 through U19 levels, equips her with a blend of shot‑stopping acumen and composure on the ball.
The coaching staff highlighted her ability to command the penalty area, noting that her confidence in possession will foster healthy competition within the goalkeeping group.
Experience Meets Ambition
Having featured in three UEFA Women’s U17 qualifiers in 2023, including victories over Sweden and a fellow Portuguese side, Paredes brings an international pedigree that aligns with the Aggies’ ambition to compete at the highest collegiate level. Her background also includes stints in the United States, having trained in both Texas and New Jersey, where she honed her skills before returning to Europe.
Bobby Shuttleworth, a veteran presence in the program, welcomed the new arrival, emphasizing that Paredes’ work ethic and leadership will raise the standard for the entire squad.
The university’s athletic department also took the opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to developing world‑class talent, citing the new signing as part of a broader strategy that involves partnerships with institutions such as Texas A&M, St. Bonaventure University, and Mount St. Mary's University.
