Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) has named Amber Moore as its new assistant coach for the women's basketball team, a move that underscores the program's ambition to deepen its talent pipeline and reinforce its culture of excellence.
A Proven Developer of Talent
Moore arrives after a productive stint at Syracuse University, where she contributed to player development and scouting, helping the Orange sharpen their recruiting strategies and elevate overall performance.
A Vision for the Program
Head coach Raina Harmon expressed enthusiasm about the addition, noting that Moore's blend of analytical insight and hands‑on coaching aligns perfectly with FGCU's commitment to sustained growth and competitive success.
A Journey From Court to Coaching Staff
Before transitioning to coaching, Moore distinguished herself as a standout player at the University of Illinois, becoming one of only 13 athletes in program history to score over 1,000 career points. Her accolades include a WBCA Thirty Under 30 honor in 2018, All‑Big Ten Freshman Team recognition in 2010, and the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award in 2013.
She also earned a bachelor's degree in applied health sciences in 2013 and an MBA from Saint Leo University in 2019, while gaining professional experience overseas in Slovakia and Finland.
Moore's career path — spanning director of operations roles at the University at Buffalo, assistant positions at Canisius College and Houston Baptist, and now FGCU — reflects a steady climb marked by strategic leadership and a dedication to player development.
Her appointment is expected to strengthen the program's recruiting outreach and deepen its focus on holistic athlete growth, positioning the team for continued ascent in the competitive landscape of women's college basketball.
