Sectional triumphs across the region
Six Evansville‑area high school baseball teams captured sectional championships this week, advancing a total of six squads to the regional round.
North, the defending champion, posted a 7‑1 victory over Reitz, marking the program’s first back‑to‑back titles in school history. The win was anchored by a dominant pitching performance from Carson Frome, who kept the opposition at bay while the offense executed a series of small‑ball tactics.
Gibson Southern, Memorial and Mater Dei also secured sectional crowns, each prevailing in tightly contested games that underscored the competitive balance among southwestern Indiana programs.
North Daviess and Northeast Dubois added to the sweep by winning their respective Class 1A sectional finals, the former beating Orleans 16‑1 and the latter edging Tecumseh 3‑1.
The regional championship will see North face Jeffersonville, a matchup that promises another chapter in the area’s rich baseball tradition.

With the regional finals on the horizon, coaches and players alike are focusing on sustaining momentum while navigating the heightened pressure of postseason play. The IHSAA’s oversight ensures that all competition adheres to established standards, reflecting the organization’s long‑standing role in shaping high school athletics across the state.
