AJ Borsch leads Division III honorees as coaches recognize top talent across Ohio high schools

The Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association (OHSBCA) has released its annual district honors, spotlighting a wave of talent from eastern Ohio schools. In Division III, Big Red’s AJ Borsch was named Player of the Year, a testament to his outstanding performance on the mound and at the plate.

Districtwide Recognition

Borsch headline a first‑team lineup that also featured his Big Red teammate Matt Fabbro and Indian Creek’s Sylus Hyde, while Hunter Rusnak earned a spot on the same squad. The coaching staff recognized Gavin Pownall of Indian Creek and Royal Mayo from Big Red as second‑team selections, and added Cole Bowers and Patker Heath to the honorable‑mention list.

Beyond player accolades, John Zeigler of Indian Creek was honored as Assistant Coach of the Year for Division III, underscoring the association’s appreciation for leadership behind the scenes.

Bryce Rogers and Coop Baker from the Panthers earned second‑team nods in the same division, while Jordan Kovalski and Dugan Dobrovich from Buckeye Local received honorable‑mention recognition.

Division V saw Gage Stoneking and Lance Smith from Harrison Central placed on the first team, with Kolton Mizer also earning a second‑team selection and Colson Crothers listed as an honorable mention. In Division VI, Michael Henry and Drake Bouscher from Toronto were first‑teamers, and Tanner Newbold and Max Rebich followed as second‑team picks. Division VII recognized Zach Bryan and Matthew Jones from Catholic Central on the first team, with Tommy Symington earning a second‑team spot and Jojo Corabi listed as an honorable mention.
