The 2026 campaign for Louisiana baseball marked a dramatic reversal of fortune, as the Ragin’ Cajuns fought their way to the finals of the Starkville Regional in the NCAA Tournament.
Guided by head coach Matt Deggs, the team posted a 41‑25 record, a stark improvement over the previous year’s 27‑31 finish, with the offense climbing to a .270 team batting average and the pitching staff trimming its ERA to 5.19.
Building Blocks for the Future
Seniors Andrew Herrmann and Lee Amedee embodied the club’s winning mentality, with Herrmann emerging as the go‑to Saturday arm and throwing the most complete games in the nation, while Amedee led the Cajuns with 54 RBIs and anchored the infield.
Freshmen such as Colt Brown, Blaze Rodriguez and Noah Lewis injected new energy, as Brown paced the team in slugging with a .314 average, Lewis posted a .297 average, and Rodriguez earned the only All‑Regional Team honor for the Cajuns.
The roster also featured standouts like Chase Morgan, Josh Lim, Hayden Pearson, Sawyer Pruitt, Tyler Papenbrock, Jose Torres, Rigoberto Hernandez, Kyle DeBarge, Carson Roccaforte, LP Langevin and Julian Brock, each contributing to a season that exceeded expectations.
Looking ahead, the program plans to retain its underclassmen and add fresh talent for 2027, with Deggs already setting ambitious goals that include hosting a regional next season.
