The Colfax-Mingo girls soccer team delivered a commanding 10-0 win over Central Iowa United in the Class 1A Region 7 quarterfinals, a performance that not only secured their spot in the regional semifinals but also showcased a dominant offensive display.
Meadow Lane was the center of attention, netting her 50th goal of the season and establishing a new school record while tying for the state lead in scoring.
Bianca Lane added two goals and two assists, extending her own single-season assist record and bringing her career total to 16 goals and 14 assists.
Victoria Woods scored her first goal of the year, while Ashlyn Finch and Blain Houseman each contributed a goal, pushing Finch’s career tally to 26 and Houseman’s to four.
The Tigerhawks built a 4-0 halftime lead and invoked the mercy rule in the 77th minute, finishing with a 36-0 advantage in total shots and a 22-0 edge in shots on goal.
Next up: a showdown with GCGR
GCGR also advanced with an 8-0 victory over Grand View Christian, and the two teams share several common opponents, including a 4-1 win over Benton Community and a 3-2 triumph over Dike-New Hartford.
The regional semifinal is scheduled for June 2 in Colfax, where the Tigerhawks will look to extend their winning streak against a GCGR squad that has already tasted defeat only against top-ranked opponents such as Denver, Hudson and Aplington-Parkersburg.
