Dimario Jackson’s Move Signals a New Era for Paul Quinn College
Dimario Jackson, who guided Louisiana State University of Alexandria’s men’s basketball team to a staggering 78‑19 record over three seasons, has accepted the head coaching position at Paul Quinn College, a private Historically Black College in Dallas.
Jackson’s tenure was marked by dominance in the Red River Athletic Conference, where he posted a 59‑9 record against conference opponents, captured two regular‑season titles and two tournament championships, and led the Generals to three straight NAIA National Tournament appearances, culminating in a Round of Eight finish in the 2024‑25 campaign.
His coaching excellence earned him two RRAC Coach of the Year awards and two Louisiana Association of Basketball Coaches Small College Coach of the Year honors, while his roster produced three NAIA All‑American selections, including 2025 Player of the Year Kashie Natt and second‑team honoree EJ McQuillan.
LSUA’s Search for a New Leader
Tyler Unsicker, LSUA’s Assistant Vice Chancellor, publicly thanked Jackson for his contributions, noting that the university will embark on a national search to find a successor who can continue the program’s winning tradition.
Paul Quinn, though small with an enrollment under 600 students, has a storied affiliation with the Methodist Church and competes in the NAIA’s HBCU Athletic Conference. The Tigers finished the previous season with a 9‑17 record, a stark contrast to the expectations that now accompany Jackson’s arrival.
