Maryland’s 2027 recruiting surge
The Terrapins have wrapped up a flurry of commitments that have turned their 2027 class into one of the most talked‑about groups in the ACC. With eight pledges already on board, the coaching staff is looking to add a few more pieces before the next signing period.
Among the newest members is offensive lineman Abdus Kone, a raw talent from North Shore High School in Houston who has yet to receive a star rating from major recruiting services. Kone’s size and aggressive style have already drawn praise from position coaches, who see him as a potential anchor on the line.
Running back Terrance Grant Jr. arrives as the highest‑rated recruit in the class, sitting 49th nationally among backs and earning three‑star status. His blend of speed and vision has made him a centerpiece of the Terps’ offensive plans.
Caleb Canty, another three‑star offensive lineman, committed to Maryland despite holding offers from 21 other programs. He will travel to College Park in June for official visits to Oklahoma State and Memphis, hoping to solidify his decision before the summer.
Safety Kevin Jackson and quarterback William Jackson round out the defensive and offensive additions. Jackson, standing just under 6‑foot‑5 and weighing 196 pounds, hopes to follow in the footsteps of successful Terp backs, while Jackson’s arm strength and poise have excited the coaching staff.
Beyond the gridiron
Maryland’s women’s basketball program saw recruit Jordyn Jackson invited to the USA Basketball 18U national team trials, a testament to her rapid rise on the national stage. Meanwhile, track and field standouts Morgan Graham and Jennessa Wolfe represented the university at the NCAA regional meet in Lexington, Kentucky, showcasing the school’s breadth of athletic talent.
Off the field, the football program announced a schedule tweak that adds a matchup against Baylor, reshaping the non‑conference slate and providing additional exposure for the team.
With eight prospects already signed, the Terps continue to scout the remaining market, hoping to close the cycle with a few more high‑impact players before the next recruiting window opens.
