Space Center Houston Merges Soccer Thrills with Galactic Exploration in ‘Galaxy’s Game’

A limited‑time exhibit ties the excitement of the 2026 FIFA World Cup to the wonder of space, featuring interactive challenges and historic artifacts.

A Cosmic Kickoff

Space Center Houston has opened a limited‑time experience called Galaxy’s Game that will run through July 31, weaving together the global buzz of the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 with the awe of space exploration.

The exhibit invites guests to discover how the drive for excellence on the soccer field mirrors humanity’s quest to push beyond Earth, highlighting shared values such as resilience, discipline, teamwork, ambition and courage.

Visitors can wander among one‑of‑a‑kind artifacts, immerse themselves in dynamic visuals and engage in hands‑on activities that blend physical play with scientific discovery.

Among the highlights is a signed soccer ball that belonged to astronaut Ellison Onizuka, recovered from the Space Shuttle Challenger, displayed alongside a Lunar Surface Arena where guests can tackle The Grid, the Lunar Obstacle Run and the ISS Fan Tracker.

Keesha Bullock, chief operating and strategy officer at Space Center Houston, said she is excited to unite two passions that inspire curiosity and ambition, noting that the experience is designed to spark interest in both space and science.

Shared Values on Earth and Beyond

The narrative underscores that whether chasing a goal on a pitch or a mission beyond the atmosphere, the same principles of perseverance and collaboration guide the journey.

The celebration extends beyond the center into eastern downtown Houston from June 11 to July 19, where the FIFA Fan Festival will host live matches, performances and a free zone of Space Center Houston activities.

At Houston Hall, a collaborative exhibition curated with NASA Johnson Space Center and creative studio Moment factory showcases a projection dome inspired by the official FIFA World Cup 2026 match ball, called Esphera.

All of these offerings are included with general admission, allowing sports and science fans alike to experience the intersection of competition and exploration without additional cost.
