Casper College is set to host a series of boys’ basketball camps throughout June, offering young athletes a chance to refine their game under the guidance of first‑year head coach Ty Larson.
A Fresh Start for Casper College Basketball
Coach Larson arrives with a résumé that blends high‑level playing experience and coaching stints at programs such as Texas Tech, Texas and Arizona. His background as an all‑state football and basketball player in high school and his time at Eastern Wyoming College give him a unique perspective on developing well‑rounded athletes.
Since taking the helm, Larson has been actively building the roster for the 2026‑27 season, reaching out to prospects across the globe. He has already secured commitments from international players from Australia and the Congo, signaling a strategy that blends local talent with overseas skill sets.
Camp Structure and Goals
The Youth Basketball Camp, scheduled for June 22‑24, targets boys in grades three through eight. It emphasizes fundamental techniques, teamwork and sportsmanship, providing a solid foundation for participants to build upon.
A separate High School Camp will take place on June 25, offering an intensive experience that mirrors a collegiate practice environment. Participants will engage in advanced drills, strategic sessions and game‑like scenarios designed to prepare them for the rigors of higher‑level competition.
Beyond skill development, Coach Larson sees the camps as an opportunity to become a visible presence in the community. By interacting directly with campers, he hopes to generate excitement and support for the upcoming season, encouraging families to attend games and cheer on the team.
The college’s athletic department, including partners such as Casper College, Eastern Wyoming College and Ball State, is supporting the initiative with resources and promotional efforts. Their involvement underscores a collaborative approach to strengthening basketball programs across the region.
