The 2026 West Virginia state baseball tournament opens this weekend, bringing together 32 high school teams from across the Mountain State in a single-elimination format.
Games will be played in four classifications — Class A, Class AA, Class AAA and Class AAAA — each featuring a slate of opening round contests that pit traditional powerhouses against emerging contenders.
Opening Round Matchups
In Class A, St. Joseph’s Central meets Trinity, Gilmer County takes on Greater Beckley, East Hardy faces Pendleton County, and Sherman squares off against Madonna.
Class AA features a clash between Wheeling Central Catholic and James Monroe, while Logan travels to Doddridge County and Frankfort meets Lincoln; Independence is paired with Buffalo.
The AAA bracket includes Bridgeport versus East Fairmont, Ripley against Spring Valley, St. Albans versus John Marshall, and Shady Spring taking on Robert C. Byrd.
Class AAAA matches see George Washington up against Huntington, Washington versus Jefferson, Morgantown against Cabell Midland, and Hurricane meeting Martinsburg.
Semi‑final games are scheduled for Thursday and Friday of next week, setting the stage for the championship round.
The title games will be played on Saturday, June 13, concluding a week of high‑stakes baseball across the state.
