Iowa women's basketball announced the signing of Swedish forward Ella Stromdahl, a 6‑foot prospect from Uppsala who will arrive on campus as a freshman. Her addition marks the fifth offseason pickup for the Hawkeyes and brings the known 2026‑27 roster to 11 players.
Stromdahl previously competed for Sweden’s under‑16 and under‑18 national teams and spent last season with the RIG Lulea academy, where she averaged 6.5 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.
Coach Jan Jensen is shifting back to a four‑out offensive scheme, and Stromdahl’s size and skill set fit the new philosophy, providing a forward who can operate both inside and outside the paint.
She will join guards Dani Carnegie and Jocelyn Faison, wing Amari Whiting, and point guard Bria Medina, creating a blend of perimeter shooting and interior presence.
Veteran analyst Chad Leistikow highlighted Stromdahl’s versatility, noting that her experience on Swedish senior squads adds an international dimension to the lineup.
Recruiting Complete
With the portal and recruiting cycle now closed, Coach Jan Jensen expressed confidence that the current 11‑player group offers sufficient depth for the upcoming season, signaling the end of active recruiting for the Hawkeyes.
