Aden Holloway’s Plea Deal Leads to Rehabilitation Program

Alabama guard apologizes, writes letter, and seeks redemption after drug arrest

A Second Chance on the Court

Aden Holloway, a guard on the University of Alabama men's basketball team, reached a plea agreement in March that replaces a drug‑related arrest with a structured rehabilitation program.

The arrangement, overseen by the Tuscaloosa County district attorney's office, requires Holloway to complete a curriculum that includes counseling, community service and a written acknowledgment of his conduct.

Investigators discovered 2.1 pounds of marijuana and an unlabeled bag of promethazine during the search that followed his March 16 arrest. In his apology letter, Holloway admitted that marijuana is illegal in Alabama and expressed regret for possessing the substances.

He also conveyed gratitude for the opportunity to learn from the mistake, emphasizing his commitment to moving forward positively and to sharing the lesson with teammates and peers.

Following the arrest, Holloway was suspended from both campus activities and the basketball program, and his future roster status remains undetermined as the university reviews the outcome of the program.
