San Diego State Baseball Stars Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

Three Aztecs recognized for excellence on the field and in the classroom

The College Sports Communicators (CSC) has announced its Academic All-District Baseball Team, and San Diego State University celebrates three of its own who earned the distinction. The honor reflects not only on-field performance but also a commitment to academic excellence, a combination that has become a hallmark of the program.

A season of distinction for SDSU baseball

Eligibility for the CSC Academic All-District honor requires at least sophomore standing and a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, underscoring the rigorous standards set for student-athletes.

Aidan Russell, a senior right-hander, adds a third career CSC Academic All-District selection to his résumé. This season he posted a 6-2 record, a 2.53 earned run average and recorded 49 strikeouts, cementing his role as a reliable ace for the Aztecs.

Jabin Trosky, also a senior, earned first-team all-Mountain West honors while maintaining a .324 batting average. His speed on the bases translated into 52 runs scored, illustrating his all-around impact on the lineup.

Drew Talavs, a junior, contributed a 4-4 record with a 6.75 ERA and struck out 62 batters in his inaugural season as an Aztec. His performances on the mound added depth to the pitching staff during a competitive year.

Beyond individual accolades, the Aztecs captured the Mountain West regular-season championship with a 36-24 overall record. The team is slated to transition to the Pac-12 Conference next season, a move that promises new challenges and opportunities for growth.

Coach Kevin Vance, who has guided the program through this period of success, praised the blend of talent and scholarship that defines the current squad. He emphasized that the culture of academic rigor remains a cornerstone of the team's identity.

The CSC Academic All-America program, which recognizes honorees across four divisions, continues to spotlight student-athletes who excel in both competition and classroom. SDSU's latest honorees exemplify this dual commitment, reinforcing the university's reputation for producing well-rounded leaders.
