A New Leadership Era in Nashville
Chris MacFarland has been appointed as President of Hockey Operations and General Manager for the Nashville Predators, succeeding Barry Trotz, who will transition into an advisory role within the organization.
MacFarland arrives after a four‑year tenure as general manager of the Colorado Avalanche, where he helped guide the club to a Presidents’ Trophy and a Stanley Cup championship while overseeing a streak of nine consecutive playoff appearances.
During his time in Colorado he was a finalist for the Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year Award and earned a reputation for building strong, competitive teams that consistently challenged for the league’s top honors.
The Predators’ ownership group, led by Bill Haslam, expressed confidence that MacFarland’s blend of hockey operations experience and business acumen will steer the franchise toward sustained success.
Barry Trotz, who spent 15 seasons as the Predators’ inaugural head coach, will move into an advisory capacity, bringing his extensive coaching legacy to the front office.
MacFarland, a graduate of Pace University with both a business degree and a law degree, resides in Nanuet, New York with his wife Chandra and their four children.
