Akron Baseball Stars Shine in Academic Arena
The College Sports Communicators (CSC) has announced its latest Academic All-District® Baseball Team, and five members of the University of Akron’s baseball squad have earned spots on the prestigious list.
Taylor Bednar, Blake Bowen, Brody Chrisman, Josiah Ross and Landon Vandegrift were selected based on their combined achievements of athletic performance and academic standing, underscoring the program’s commitment to developing well‑rounded student‑athletes.
Each honoree maintained a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50, meeting the CSC’s rigorous eligibility standards that blend classroom dedication with competitive play.
A Prestigious Recognition
The CSC Academic All‑District® Baseball Team honors the top student‑athletes across four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — recognizing those who excel both on the diamond and in their studies.
University officials praised the recognition as a testament to the institution’s emphasis on scholarship. “These young men demonstrate that success in the classroom can go hand‑in‑hand with success on the field,” a senior administrator said.
The honor places the Akron program among a select group of schools whose athletes consistently meet the CSC’s high benchmarks, reinforcing the university’s reputation for integrating academics and athletics.
