A new era of scheduling
The Wildcats and the Razorbacks have agreed to a three‑game series that kicks off on December 19, 2025, at McKale Center in Phoenix. The agreement also guarantees a return trip to Arkansas for the 2027‑28 season and a home game in Tucson in 2028‑29, while a fourth contest at a neutral site closer to Arkansas is being explored for the 2029‑30 year.
Coach Tommy Lloyd, who took over the program just a few years ago, sees the arrangement as a chance to test his team against a different style of play and to showcase Arizona on a national stage. He has expressed a desire to stage an annual neutral‑site game in Phoenix, a vision that could reshape how the Wildcats schedule non‑conference opponents.
The upcoming series carries extra weight after Arizona’s 109‑88 victory over Arkansas in the Sweet 16 of the March 2026 tournament, a win that propelled the Wildcats to their first Final Four appearance in 25 seasons. That breakthrough has heightened expectations and added a competitive edge to the new scheduling pact.
Beyond the Arkansas matchup, Arizona’s non‑conference slate features high‑profile games against UCLA, UConn, St. John's and Auburn, while the team will also compete in the Maui Invitational from November 23‑25, 2025, in Hawaii. The diverse field is intended to sharpen the Wildcats before conference play and to give fans marquee matchups across the country.
Coverage of the schedule will be anchored by CBS Sports, which holds the broadcast rights to many of the Wildcats’ marquee games, while Getty Images will supply the visual archive of key moments. Reporters such as Matt Norlander have already begun dissecting the implications of the new arrangement for both programs.
