The Civic Memorial girls soccer team concluded the 2026 campaign with a 12‑11‑1 record, a milestone that underscored the program’s steady rise.
Their run ended in the semifinals of the Litchfield Class 1A Sectional Tournament, where a 3‑2 defeat to the host squad capped a season of growth.
A Season of Growth
Head coach Eric Zyung praised the team’s trajectory, noting that the players peaked at the right moment and that the younger cohort is poised to carry the momentum forward.
Senior defender Delaney Griffin, who will continue her career at Ursuline College, contributed 14 goals and 12 assists, often shifting from center back to an attacking role when needed.
Junior forward Landree Wallace emerged as the team’s leading scorer with 21 goals and five assists, highlighted by a five‑goal outburst in a 7‑1 win over Carlinville at Hauser Field.
Key Performances
Sophomore Allie Kamp added 14 goals and five assists, delivering the decisive strike in a 1‑0 victory against Staunton, and even competed in the IHSA Girls State Track meet before the regional championship.
The squad won eight of its final eleven games, a stretch that propelled them into the sectional tournament and signaled a promising future.
Looking Ahead
Next season, Civic Memorial will transition to the Cahokia Conference after the Mississippi Valley Conference dissolves, a move that could reshape the team’s competitive landscape.
With a core of returning players and a recruiting class that includes promising underclassmen, the program aims to build on the momentum generated by Griffin, Wallace and Kamp.
