The University of North Alabama announced that five of its baseball student-athletes have been selected for the 2026 Academic All-District team, a distinction that highlights both scholarly achievement and athletic promise.
The honorees comprise graduates John Allen Stogner and Gavin Oswald alongside sophomores Wes Walker, Luke Davenport and Tripp Patterson, each of whom met the rigorous GPA and participation standards required for the award.
Academic excellence is evident in the classroom, where Patterson, Oswald and Stogner posted perfect 4.0 GPAs throughout the year, while Walker, a double-major, maintained a 3.86 GPA and Davenport recorded a 3.80 GPA in finance.
Record-setting performance on the field
On the diamond, Walker led the league with 85 home runs and posted a .300 batting average in the postseason, contributions that helped the Lions secure the fifth-best pitching staff in the ASUN with a 5.65 ERA.
The collective effort propelled North Alabama to its most successful Division I season, delivering 28 wins and a program-record 19 conference victories, a performance that earned the team its first share of the ASUN Gold Division title since 2005 and a historic first appearance in the ASUN Championship Final.
University officials praised the student-athletes for embodying the institution’s commitment to developing well-rounded leaders, a sentiment echoed by College Sports Communicators, the organization that administers the Academic All-District recognition.
