Scots Shine in Academic All-District Selections
Five members of the Macalester College baseball squad have been selected for the Division III Academic All-District team, a testament to their dual commitment to scholarly rigor and athletic performance.
The honorees — Tristan Jones, Jamie Loizeaux, Josh Planko, Jack Nussbaum and Holden Peacock — were recognized for excelling both in the classroom and on the diamond, with Jones, Planko and Peacock earning the distinction for the second time.
The 2026 season marked a historic chapter for the Scots, as they captured the MIAC Playoff championship and secured a berth in the NCAA Tournament, shattering several program records along the way.
Jones, who anchored the infield at second base, posted a .346 batting average during the postseason and contributed 22 runs batted in, while Planko’s .318 average and flawless fielding underscored his reliability.
Peacock led the conference with 25 stolen bases and set a new school mark for walks, adding a dynamic spark that helped the team finish 30‑17, a record win total for a single season.
Loizeaux made history by breaking the MIAC appearance record and posting a 3.48 ERA with five saves, and Nussbaum topped the staff with 55 strikeouts in just 41 1/3 innings.
Their collective impact helped the team finish 30‑17, a record win total for a single season, and the squad’s success extended beyond the field, earning multiple program records for runs, hits, RBIs, stolen bases, innings pitched and pitching strikeouts.
The College Sports Communicators’ Academic All-America program, which underpins the All-District selections, continues to spotlight student‑athletes who balance demanding competitive schedules with high academic standards.
