The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa announced that five of its baseball players have been selected as College Sports Communicators Academic All‑District honorees, a distinction that marks the program’s most selections in a single season.
A Record‑Setting Season
Seniors John Alkire II, juniors Tate Shimao and Tsubasa Tomii, along with sophomores Grant Garman and Jake Redding, were recognized for excelling both in the classroom and on the diamond.
Their achievements come as the Rainbow Warriors concluded the Big West regular season in fourth place and secured a spot in the conference tournament, a feat that makes UH the only program in the league to finish among the top five for five consecutive years.
Alkire II, Garman and Tomii anchored a pitching staff that sits third nationally with a 3.44 ERA, while Redding provided steady leadership behind the plate and Shimao paced the offense.
The honorees exemplify the balance of academic rigor and athletic competitiveness that the university strives to promote, underscoring the growing reputation of Hawaiʻi baseball on a national scale.
