This summer, eleven University of Evansville baseball student‑athletes will trade the familiar confines of the campus diamond for a series of road trips that will take them from the Midwest heartland to the far corners of the country.
Their mission is simple: to test their skills against top competition in the nation’s most respected summer collegiate leagues, including the Northwoods League and the Prospect League.
Northwoods League Deployments
In the Northwoods League, the Purple Aces will be represented by a quartet of standout players — Charlie Longmeier, Drew McConnell, Kaleb Wilkey and Tate Deal — who will join a roster that also features Conner Vander Luitgaren, Reagan Reeder and Benji Kautto.
Prospect League Assignments
Across the Prospect League, four more Evansville standouts — Jack Willhite, Simon Schulz, Ximi Baftiri and Cam Mosier — will showcase their talents, joining teammates in a league known for its high‑level play and scouting opportunities.
The geographic spread of these assignments is notable. From the chilly courts of Mankato, Minnesota, to the historic streets of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and the industrial backdrop of Duluth, Minnesota, each player will experience a distinct regional style of play and fan culture.
These journeys are more than a schedule; they are a rite of passage for the student‑athletes, who will balance the rigors of summer league competition with the personal growth that comes from living independently in new cities such as Royal Oak, Michigan, and O'Fallon, Missouri.
University of Evansville’s athletic department has highlighted the importance of these experiences for player development, emphasizing that exposure to diverse competition accelerates both athletic and academic progress.
Fans back in Evansville and across the country will be watching closely as these young athletes bring the Purple Aces’ tradition of excellence to new stages, hoping to carry forward the program’s legacy into the upcoming collegiate season.
