The annual Colorado‑Kansas 6‑man All‑State football games are set to take place this Saturday on Rex Field at Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado. The event will bring together three squads — two from Colorado and one from Kansas — each playing two twelve‑minute halves before a final showdown between the two Colorado teams at 2 p.m.
Game Schedule and Teams
Kansas will open the day at 11 a.m. against the Colorado North squad, then meet the Colorado South team at 12:30 p.m., while the Colorado North and South teams will square off later in the afternoon. The format ensures each team faces two opponents, creating a compact but intense schedule for players and fans alike.
Participating schools span a wide geographic area, with the Colorado South side drawing talent from ten distinct programs, including Sierra Grande High School. The North roster includes athletes from Briggsdale, Caliche, Deer Trail, Idalia, Otis, Peetz, Prairie and Weldon Valley, while the Kansas side will be represented by competitors from Cunningham, Golden Plains, Ingalls, Maria's des Cygnes Valley, Northern Valley, Otis‑Bison, South Barber, Tescott and Weskan.
Player Spotlight
Four standout players from Sierra Grande — Carlos Lopez, Jeremiah Lopez, Jadyn Martinez and Rolando Najera — will wear the South colors, highlighting the school’s continued contribution to the all‑state showcase. The Lopez brothers bring a combined three seasons of varsity experience, while Martinez is recognized for his speed and agility, and Najera is known for his hard‑hitting style.
Beyond the on‑field action, the games serve as a celebration of rural football traditions, bringing together communities from the High Plains and the Great Plains for a day of competition and camaraderie. Organized in partnership with Adams State University, the event underscores the institution’s role in supporting youth athletics across state lines.
