A Summer of Growth on the Court
More than a hundred young basketball players gathered at the First United Bank Center in Canyon, Texas, for a three‑day skills camp organized by the West Texas A&M Lady Buffs. The event, which ran from nine in the morning until close to noon each day, welcomed participants from first through eighth grade.
Coaches Josh Prock and Will Sherman used the platform to stress the importance of building connections with the campers, noting that the energy and enthusiasm of the youth can ripple outward to create a more engaged fan base once the regular season begins.
Campers took part in a mix of skill drills, controlled games and a shooting competition, while several participants earned the role of ball girls during the mock matches, further immersing them in the program.
Beyond the on‑court work, the coaches highlighted how these early interactions lay the groundwork for lasting relationships that could translate into stronger support when the Lady Buffs take the court this season.

As the summer heat fades, the Lady Buffs are already planning how to channel the momentum generated by the camp into a vibrant atmosphere for upcoming games.
