A Familiar Face Returns to the Defensive Line
Nathan Robinson, a 6‑foot‑6, 295‑pound redshirt junior, is poised to anchor the Tennessee Volunteers’ defensive line for the 2026 campaign. After spending three seasons in Knoxville, the Greenbrier native brings a blend of size, experience and relentless work ethic that coaches say will be pivotal as the Vols look to rebuild a front seven that lost several key contributors.
Robinson’s collegiate résumé includes 27 appearances from 2023 through 2025, during which he amassed 17 tackles, three tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, a pass deflection and a forced fumble. In 2025 alone he played every game, posting 14 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and the same forced fumble that helped swing momentum in crucial moments.
Beyond the numbers, Robinson has earned three consecutive selections to the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll, underscoring his commitment to scholarship as well as sport. A graduate of Greenbrier High School, he helped the Bobcats reach the 4A state playoffs in 2022 and arrived on campus early, participating in Orange Bowl practices that gave him a head start on the SEC’s elite competition.
The Volunteers open the 2026 season on September 5 at 3:30 p.m. EDT against Furman, a matchup that will be streamed on SEC Network+. The game will take place at Neyland Stadium, where Robinson hopes to translate his offseason preparation into a strong start for the team’s defensive identity.
Coaches have praised Robinson’s leadership in spring drills, noting that his presence not only stabilizes the interior line but also mentors younger linemen eager to follow his path. As the roster continues to evolve, his blend of physicality and discipline is expected to shape the Volunteers’ defensive schemes throughout the schedule.
