A Roster in Flux
Clemson’s baseball squad concluded the 2026 campaign with a 31‑26 record, a tally that left the team outside the NCAA Tournament and forced a long offseason reflection.
Head coach Erik Bakich, now in his tenth year at the helm, has turned to the transfer portal as a primary tool for rebuilding, signaling a shift in how the program approaches roster construction.
The roster overhaul comes after a slew of departures, with veterans such as Nate Savoie, Talan Bell and Bryce Clavon having entered the portal, while freshman standout Bennett Edwards from Georgia Southern has committed to join the Tigers.
Savoie was the team’s most potent bat, posting a .329 average and driving in 52 runs, but his exit creates a void that the staff hopes to fill with fresh talent and internal development.
Edwards, who posted a .287 average with three homers and nine steals in his rookie season, arrives as a promising piece of the puzzle, adding depth to both the lineup and the outfield.
Beyond the plate, the pitching staff must also replenish its talent, as the program looks to replace the mound contributions that have been lost to the portal.
The transfer window will remain open until June 30, with special provisions for graduate transfers and athletes affected by coaching changes, giving Bakich and his staff a narrow window to finalize additions.
Fans can expect a competitive spring as the Tigers aim to restore the program’s traditional strength, leveraging new arrivals and the experience of returning players.
