The University of New Hampshire announced this week that its women's basketball team will welcome five new student‑athletes for the upcoming 2026‑27 campaign, a move that underscores the program’s ambition to elevate its competitive edge.
A Fresh Era for the Wildcats
Head coach Megan Shoniker, who has led the program for several seasons, expressed enthusiasm about the incoming talent, noting that the new roster brings a blend of experience and youthful vigor that could reshape the team’s dynamics.
Among the newcomers are three transfers — Erin Edmonds, Maya Braxton Young and Anya McKenzie — and two freshmen, Charlotte Jasmin and Delaney Todd, each of whom has distinguished themselves on the high school and college stages.
Edmonds, a 5‑foot‑10 guard from Hopewell, Virginia, arrives after leading her high school squad to back‑to‑back 3A Player of the Year honors, while McKenzie, a 6‑foot‑2 forward from Luton, England, brings international exposure from the Great Britain U21 team and academic accolades on the Academic All‑WAC Team.
Braxton Young, a 5‑foot‑6 guard from Woodbury, New Jersey, contributed to South Plains College’s 48‑11 record and earned Conference Player of the Year recognition, and Jasmin, a 5‑foot‑9 guard from Hartford, Vermont, becomes only the fifth girl in state history to surpass 2,000 career points, having captured consecutive Gatorade Vermont Girls Player of the Year awards.
Todd, a 6‑foot‑1 forward from Eltham, Australia, captains her youth league side and has been celebrated for defensive excellence, rounding out a class that blends scoring, playmaking and tenacious defense.
The Wildcats are slated to open the season in early November, a date that will mark the first public appearance of the new cohort before fans in Wildcat Country.
