A Strategic Addition to the Wildcats' Coaching Roster
The University of Arizona baseball program announced the hiring of Jack Meggs as its new assistant coach and hitting coach, a move that underscores the team’s commitment to strengthening its offensive arsenal.
Meggs arrives after a four‑year stint at Saint Mary’s, where he helped the team capture consecutive Western Collegiate Athletic Association tournament titles and secure NCAA Tournament berths in 2025 and 2026, while guiding the offense to top rankings in the conference.
During his tenure, he oversaw a dramatic rise in batting average and power numbers, setting new program records for home runs and driving the team to the upper echelon of offensive statistics.
Prior to Saint Mary’s, Meggs served as hitting coach at the University of Kansas and honed his analytical approach while playing collegiate baseball at the University of Washington from 2014 to 2017, a period that culminated in a 10th‑round selection in the 2017 MLB Draft by the Oakland Athletics.
After signing a free‑agent contract with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2020, he transitioned fully into coaching, beginning his career at Kansas before moving to Saint Mary’s, bringing a blend of professional experience and collegiate insight to Tucson.
Coaches and players alike anticipate that his expertise will translate into a more disciplined approach at the plate, potentially reshaping the Wildcats’ lineup dynamics and boosting run production in the upcoming season.
