New Additions Strengthen DePaul Men's Soccer
DePaul University’s men’s soccer program is set to welcome a wave of new talent for the 2025 season, with six players joining the squad across the winter and spring terms.
Head coach Mark Plotkin expressed enthusiasm about the incoming class, noting that the additions bring a blend of experience and fresh energy to the lineup.
The roster expansion includes five transfers — Christian Dionne, Matt Eger, Scott Godden, Chance Johnson and Ronan Selbo — alongside true freshman Chase Hassfurther, each of whom arrives with distinct collegiate pedigrees.
Transfer Impact Expected Across the Pitch
Christian Dionne, a redshirt senior who previously starred at Penn State and the University of Connecticut, brings 45 career appearances and three goals from the 2025 campaign, ranking fourth on his former team in points.
Matt Eger, who completed a freshman season at Penn State, logged 374 minutes across ten appearances and is expected to contribute depth in midfield.
Scott Godden, after two seasons at Rutgers where he started 16 games and helped the defense record five shutouts — the most for the Scarlet Knights since 2021 — joins as a defensive reinforcement.
Chase Hassfurther, a January enrollee from Barca Residency Academy, plans to pursue a degree in Marketing while adding offensive versatility to the squad.
Chance Johnson, a graduate goalkeeper from Southern Methodist University, arrives with 12 saves and two clean sheets to his credit from his Dallas stint, aiming to compete for starting duties.
Ronan Selbo, recognized by Top Drawer Soccer as the 60th‑best freshman in 2025, made 15 starts and 1,291 minutes played during his debut season at the University of St. Thomas, bringing a strong midfield presence.
Alongside these newcomers, the Blue Demons will also field 16 returning players from the previous season, setting the stage for a competitive and dynamic roster.
