Coastal Carolina Baseball Players Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

A historic first since 2023 highlights academic excellence alongside athletic success

Coastal Carolina University announced that four of its baseball student-athletes have been selected for the 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Baseball Team.

A Milestone for CCU Baseball

The honorees — Colby Thorndyke, Blagen Pado, Luke Jones and Rex Watson — represent the first CCU baseball players to earn this distinction since 2023, underscoring a continued rise in academic performance alongside athletic achievement.

Meeting the rigorous standards of the CSC program required each athlete to maintain a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA while participating in at least half of the team’s contests, a benchmark that all four have surpassed.

Eligibility also demanded that candidates be at least sophomores and have completed a full academic year at their current institution, criteria that the quartet satisfied before being recognized.

Their selection now propels them into the national CSC Academic All-America® ballot, with the final honorees set to be revealed on June 23, a date that will determine who eventually receives the prestigious All-America accolade.

The CSC Academic All-America® program spans four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — highlighting the broad reach of the award and the diverse pool of student-athletes it celebrates.
