A New Chapter in Sweden
Lucie Quarto, a native of Besançon, France, has agreed to a two‑year professional contract with the Malmö Redhawks, a club that has been a fixture of Sweden’s National Women’s Hockey League since 1972.
Quarto spent three seasons at Lindenwood University, where she appeared in 64 games and contributed two goals and four assists while also logging 34 shots on goal and 42 blocked shots. Her collegiate career culminated in a historic season for the Lions, a team that captured a program‑record 14 victories and secured the No. 3 seed in the AHA playoffs.
Olympic Experience
Representing Team France at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, Quarto featured in all four preliminary‑round matches, skating for 69 minutes and 43 seconds of ice time. Although she recorded just a single shot on goal, her presence on the roster underscored France’s growing depth in the sport.
About the Redhawks and Their League
Founded in 1972, the Malmö Redhawks compete in the NDHL, the second‑tier women’s professional circuit in Sweden. The club’s longstanding tradition blends community roots with a competitive drive, making it an attractive destination for emerging talent like Quarto.
The move marks the second instance this offseason of a Lindenwood player securing an overseas contract, reflecting the university’s increasing reputation as a pipeline for international opportunities. The Lions’ recent success, highlighted by a first playoff victory over Robert Morris since 2017, has amplified interest in their alumni.
Quarto’s signing illustrates the growing appeal of European leagues for North American players seeking new challenges. As she transitions to Sweden, she joins a roster that aims to climb the NDHL standings and contend for promotion to the top tier.
