A Double Path to the State Stage
The Apollo Eagles softball and baseball teams have both secured their places in the upcoming state tournament in Lexington after dominating their respective regional championships. The softball squad captured the 3rd Regional Championship by defeating Daviess County, while the baseball team also earned a historic berth, marking the first time both programs will represent the school on the same stage.
A celebratory send‑off was organized by friends, family, and teammates, highlighting the community’s pride and support for the athletes. The excitement was palpable as the teams prepared to travel to Lexington, where they will join other top competitors from across the state.
Head softball coach Stephen Julian expressed his enthusiasm about the dual participation, noting that the achievement reflects the hard work of the players and the strong culture of the program. "Seeing both teams head to state together is a testament to our growth and the dedication of everyone involved," Julian said.
The softball team is scheduled to play North Hardin on Friday at 1 p.m. eastern, a matchup that will test their regional success against a formidable opponent. Meanwhile, the baseball team will also step onto the diamond in Lexington, continuing its own tournament run.
Both teams will represent the Apollo Eagles organization, which maintains an official website at apolloeagles.org for updates, schedules, and community engagement. Their performances will be closely followed by local fans eager to see how far the Eagles can soar in the state arena.
