Quentin Burrell, a four-star wide receiver from Chicago, has officially pledged to the University of Michigan for the class of 2027, sending a clear signal that the Wolverines’ recruiting momentum is accelerating.
The commitment follows a whirlwind recruitment in which Burrell fielded offers from a host of power-conference programs, including Notre Dame, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Miami, Ohio State and Oregon, before deciding that Michigan offered the best blend of academics, culture and opportunity.
At Mount Carmel High School, Burrell has already cemented his reputation as a leader and playmaker, guiding his team to a championship and earning MaxPreps Junior All-America second-team honors while standing as the school’s all-time leader in touchdown catches.
A Track Record of Speed
Beyond the gridiron, Burrell has demonstrated elite track talent, posting a 100-meter dash of 11.52 seconds and a 200-meter time of 23.68 as an eighth-grader, attributes that coaches expect to translate into explosive route running and big-play ability at the collegiate level.
The addition of Burrell brings Michigan’s 2027 class to eight commitments, a group that has been ranked No. 8 nationally prior to his pledge and is distinguished by a heavy Midwest presence, with five of the eight prospects hailing from the region, including three from Michigan, one from Indianapolis and now a standout from Chicago.
Coaches envision Burrell as a multi-year contributor with All-Conference upside, noting that his work ethic and ability to outrun coverage make him a potential cornerstone of the Wolverines’ receiving corps in the years ahead.
