The Hi-Line Gridiron Camp, founded in 2007 by Jim Vinson, head coach of the CJI football program, has evolved from a modest local gathering into a cornerstone of Montana’s youth football scene. Each summer the camp draws more than 100 participants from across the state and neighboring regions, offering them a chance to train under a variety of coaches and compete in six-man, eight-man and 11-man formats.
A Community-Driven Football Tradition
What sets the camp apart is its status as the only full-contact junior-high football camp in Montana, emphasizing fundamentals while exposing athletes to diverse tactical approaches. The program welcomes players from a range of school classifications, providing a unique platform for skill development and competitive experience.
The camp’s success relies heavily on a network of volunteers, including former CJI players and current and retired coaches from across Montana. These dedicated individuals handle everything from meal preparation and activity coordination to hosting families, embodying the community spirit that fuels the event.
