U.S. Hockey Teams Celebrated with Historic Bob Johnson Award
The 2026 Bob Johnson Award will honor the U.S. Olympic men’s and women’s ice hockey teams and the U.S. Paralympic sled hockey team, recognizing a historic sweep of gold medals at the 2026 Winter Games in Milan. The honor will be presented at the USA Hockey President’s Awards Dinner in Denver.
Team USA’s women’s ice hockey squad went undefeated at 6‑1‑0‑0, outscoring opponents 33‑2 over seven games. Hilary Knight and Megan Keller were among the standout performers, while Laila Edwards, Caroline Harvey and Hannah Bilka also contributed to the dominant performance.
The men’s team ended a 46‑year gold drought, finishing 4‑2‑0‑0 and receiving key contributions from Jack Hughes and Connor Hellebuyck. Quinn Hughes added depth on the blue line, helping secure the victory.
The U.S. Paralympic sled hockey team captured its fifth consecutive Paralympic gold, outscoring opponents 46‑6. Jack Wallace, Griffin LaMarre and Declan Farmer were instrumental in the team’s historic run.
USA Hockey, the governing body behind the award, will recognize the athletes and staff at the Denver ceremony, underscoring the organization’s commitment to excellence across all levels of the sport.
