Jaxsyn Durst Commits to Nevada in Search of Greater Playing Time

The former Bishop Manogue star joins the Wolf Pack as the program reshapes its roster

A Strategic Move for the Wolf Pack

Jaxsyn Durst, a standout baseball player from Bishop Manogue, has announced his transfer from Arizona State to the University of Nevada, where he hopes to secure more playing time and continue his development as a collegiate athlete.

During his high school career, Durst earned two‑time All‑North first‑team honors and was recognized as a top‑500 national prospect, ranking 24th by Perfect Game and 27th by Prep Baseball Report in his home state. He closed his senior season with a .388 batting average and a .694 slugging percentage, following a junior campaign that saw him hit .422 with a .689 slugging mark.

Durst arrives in Reno with three years of college eligibility remaining, bringing a blend of power and contact hitting that coaches say could revitalize the Wolf Pack’s lineup.

The move comes amid a wave of activity in the Nevada program, as reliever Andres Castro, infielder Payton Dixon and two‑way player Tanner Short have all entered the transfer portal, while pitcher Collin Cobb, who posted a 10‑1 record and a 2.18 ERA at Williston State College, has decided to de‑commit after a successful stint in the junior college ranks.

Cobb’s 2023 season was marked by 119 strikeouts across 70.1 innings, a performance that had drawn attention from several programs before his reversal.

Coaches at the University of Nevada view the incoming transfers as an opportunity to reshape the roster, blending experienced arms and bats with fresh talent, and they remain optimistic about the team’s competitiveness in the upcoming season.
