Max Rice Returns to Boise State as Assistant Coach

A former standout player rejoins the Broncos, bringing overseas experience and family ties to the coaching staff.

Max Rice, a former standout of the Boise State Broncos men's basketball team, is set to rejoin the program in a new capacity, taking on the role of assistant coach after completing five seasons as a player and professional stints abroad.

A Familiar Face Returns

During his collegiate career he helped the Broncos secure 111 victories and joined an elite group of only six players to reach the 1,200‑point, 400‑rebound, 200‑assist, and 100‑steal milestones.

His father, Leon Rice, who serves as the head coach of the Broncos, welcomed the move, highlighting Max’s deep understanding of the program and his proven success on the court.

After graduation, Rice pursued a professional career that took him to Germany’s Team FOG Naestved and later to the East Perth Eagles in the National Basketball League, experiences that broadened his tactical perspective.

Now back in Boise, he expressed enthusiasm about contributing to the team’s development and giving back to the community that shaped his career.
