The Boston Fleet announced a significant leadership change ahead of the 2026‑27 Premier Women’s Hockey League season, naming François Méthot as its new head coach.
Méthot arrives with a résumé that blends deep playing experience with over a decade of coaching success, having guided the Rochester Jr. Americans to a division championship and shaped talent across the NCAA, PWHL, NHL and other competitive circuits.
Before taking the helm in Boston, Méthot spent 17 years as a professional player, logging 11 seasons in Germany’s Deutsche Eishockey-Liga and six in the American Hockey League, before transitioning to coaching and player development full‑time.
Leadership Praise
Boston Fleet General Manager Danielle Marmer highlighted Méthot’s vision, emphasizing his commitment to player development and the team’s ambition to build on a strong foundation of talent and community engagement.
The franchise also revealed the names of players protected during the league’s Expansion Roster Distribution Process, including defenseman Megan Keller, forward Haley Winn and goaltender Aerin Frankel, ensuring continuity for key contributors.
Méthot expressed enthusiasm about joining the Fleet, noting the organization’s rich history and the opportunity to contribute to the growth of women’s professional hockey in North America.
His extensive background, from founding the Rochester Ice Center Hockey Academy to serving as a skills coach for the Nashville Predators, positions him to mentor the next generation of elite female athletes.
The move underscores the PWHL’s expanding footprint, with teams increasingly drawing on seasoned hockey minds to elevate competition and fan engagement across markets such as Boston, New York, Rochester and Nashville.
