Colorado men's basketball head coach Tad Boyle has announced the promotion of Tyson Gilbert to assistant coach, filling the vacancy created by Mike Rohn's departure.
Gilbert, a Rock Canyon High School alumnus who earned three All‑Centennial League honors, spent the last two seasons as a graduate assistant on Boyle's staff and previously played at Alaska Anchorage, where he was named to the All‑Great Northwest Athletic Conference team in 2023‑24.
Boyle Praises Gilbert's Leadership
In a statement, Boyle emphasized Gilbert's maturity, his ability to connect with players, and the fresh perspective he brings to a program that is reshaping after losing nine scholarship athletes to the transfer portal.
The coaching staff also includes veteran assistants Bill Grier, Danny Manning, Evan Battey and Nate Tomlinson, each offering a blend of playing experience and developmental insight.
Gilbert, who aims to build relationships and sharpen his coaching craft, will help lead a roster that has added three transfer forwards to replenish depth and competitiveness for the upcoming season.
