David Helledy Commits to Miami Hockey for 2026‑27 Season

Milwaukee-born defenseman brings a decorated college career to the RedHawks

Miami Hockey revealed this week that David Helledy will join the program for the 2026‑27 season, adding a seasoned defenseman to its roster.

A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Helledy comes to Oxford after a standout collegiate career that included a championship and record‑setting performances.

A Decorated College Journey

During his time at Bentley University, Helledy helped the Falcons capture their first-ever Atlantic Hockey Association tournament championship and secured the regular‑season title in the same year.

He contributed 20 points in 40 games during the 2025‑26 season, notching a goal in the 2026 NCAA Tournament against Michigan and earning a spot on the All‑Tournament Team.

His offensive output was complemented by a franchise‑record 47 points for the Maine Nordiques of the NAHL, where he served as assistant captain and garnered All‑NAHL First Team honors.

Helledy’s defensive reliability was reflected in a career plus‑minus rating of +61 across 127 games, underscoring his impact on both ends of the ice.

The RedHawks anticipate that his experience and leadership will bolster the defensive core as the team looks to contend in the upcoming season, with staff members Anthony Noreen and Jared G. Willis also part of the organizational picture.
